Healthy Approach
We
promise our children an education that is healthy and closely attuned to the
environment.
The fact that we are located in the countryside is of crucial importance. It
enables children to study and enjoy nature to the full, exercising, working and
playing throughout the year in an invigorating, rural setting.
Ashbridge has adopted an environmentally friendly approach aimed at fostering
a deep awareness of the world. Environmental studies are linked closely to science
and geography, with key themes such as habitats, the water cycle and eco systems
being studied.
The youngest children go for regular walks around the grounds visiting our animals
which include donkeys, sheep, goats and chickens. Older children help to care
for the school rabbits and guinea pigs, learning important values of care and
responsibility. These vital first-hand experiences also promote a sense of ownership
and encourage team working.
Our children benefit from nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks prepared
by our qualified team in the kitchen. Fresh fruits and vegetables produced locally
are used exclusively, and extensive menus are provided. These are designed to
offer a wide variety of balanced and delicious meals. A special menu is offered
for our children under 2 years which takes into account their particular needs.
The dietary and medical requirements of every Ashbridge child are met through
consultation with our catering staff.
All children are encouraged to drink plenty of water which aids general health
and sharpens concentration with each child having an individual water bottle
which is accessible to them throughout each day.
Social experiences, appropriate manners and good eating habits are strongly encouraged
by staff who regularly enjoy mealtimes with the children, providing good role
models and offering support where needed.
We never compromise with regard to the health of our children,
and we teach them a true respect for the environment and for those around them.
