Outdoor Facilities

At this river-view nursery and across all Ashbridge Day Nurseries, we adopt an interest-led approach to education that allows our children the freedom to explore and learn from the world around them. ​​

Unique to our Walton-le-Dale Nursery is the River School, a large outdoor learning area with an authentic fishing vessel and other inspiring facilities right on the banks of the River Ribble. 

Our purpose-built space is the perfect base for our pre-school children; a former fishing vessel ‘Ardent’ has been converted into an adventure play boat with amazing views of the Ribble from the top deck. The adventure playground provides a challenge for the children and is perfect for exploring and role play.

Outdoors, children are encouraged to explore the land and have the opportunity to practise managed and safe risk-taking under the supervision of our experienced and highly qualified practitioners.

Indoor Facilities

Ashbridge-on-Ribble caters to children aged three months to four years old and has specialist facilities for each age group to ensure all children’s needs are met. Our baby rooms have cots and coracles for sleeping and comfortable seating areas for feeding, as well as age-appropriate natural resources and play equipment. Classrooms for children aged two to three have been carefully designed to spark their imaginations, unlocking a world of possibilities for play and exploration.

Children of all ages benefit from regular arts and music activities, providing them with the opportunity to explore new interests and develop new passions, supporting their development in all areas. 

In addition to our classroom space, our nursery building has a large soft play area where all children can develop their gross motor skills in a different environment. This is a fantastic facility for children of all ages to practise safe risk-taking and build their confidence.
