Curriculum

We fully embrace the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), whilst also enjoying the freedom to implement fresh and creative approaches which are foundations for future learning. Our flexible and innovative approaches to teaching and learning ensure children become confident, rounded individuals who are eager and capable learners.

There is no doubt that children benefit enormously from shared social experiences, and the progress of each pupil in this and all other areas is monitored closely. This enables us to keep parents fully informed and to plan carefully for the future.

Being in rural environment gives the community at The Fledglings additional opportunities within the curriculum to learn about the natural world. Children’s direct daily experiences are acknowledged and skilful practitioners build on this to support children’s communication and mathematical development. Direct teaching goes hand in hand with purposeful child initiated play and children of differing ages have opportunities to observe and learn from older or younger children in a natural way.
