Infants Curriculum
Children start Infants in Reception class, which is the final year of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Our focus in this year is for children to become confident in early numeracy, foster a love of reading, learn to write and continue to develop social skills and an understanding of the world around them. Led by a qualified teacher and higher level teaching assistant, children in Reception receive a truly excellent start to their school education and are happy, capable and confident.
In Years 1 and 2 this excellent level of teaching continues, with children continuing to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. A strong focus remains on mathematics and literacy with teaching assistants supporting learning in both year groups. All children in Infants benefit from specialist teaching in Music, Outdoor Education, Gardening and Sports.
