The Outdoors
At Ashbridge Independent School, we wholeheartedly value the importance of outdoor learning for our pupils’ academic and holistic development. By providing pupils with open access to the outdoors, we are able to extend learning environments beyond the classroom.
Ashbridge School Outdoor Learning
Sitting on 11 acres of land in the Lancashire countryside, Ashbridge Independent School is home to unparalleled outdoor school facilities. Pupils benefit from our two woodland areas, where they are encouraged to learn through independent exploration and connect with nature. Each class has a Forest School lesson each week with our highly qualified Forest School Teacher, who leads them in engaging and adventurous outdoor lessons as part of their all-encompassing TAPESTRY curriculum.
Pupils at Ashbridge continue their outdoor education through Horticulture lessons that make use of our beautiful kitchen garden. Here, our pupils are responsible for planning, planting, and harvesting fruits, vegetables, and flowers, all overseen by our dedicated and enthusiastic Land-Based Studies Lead.
Ashbridge Independent School is also home to a wonderful selection of animals, including Shetland ponies, goats, and guinea pigs. Our pupils love spending time with them during Animal Care Club and break times, learning responsibility through hands-on care and play. With a new animal shelter underway, our animal family is set to grow, watch this space!
